Sullivans Girl

December 27, 2010

I took these photos back in November, but they were for a Christmas present for cute little “S”‘s daddy, so I had to keep them hush hush for a while! But now that Christmas has passed, I wanted to share them with you!

I loved photographing little “S”, but I will admit that the photo shoot started out a little slow. However, as soon as the pretzel sticks came out, joy was restored and the real picture taking began! So just a note to remember, along with an extra outfit (just in case!) for your little one’s photos, always bring snacks too. mmm!

Looking at her photos makes my heart all warm and tingly. Such a sweetie!

Christmas Eve

December 25, 2010

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merrrry Christmas! It’s been a wonderful Christmas week so far. The “Seamus Show Off Tour 2010″ began in Hickory, NC last week for my mom’s birthday dinner and the Webber family Christmas. Now, we are up in Waynesboro, VA for Christmas with Bryan’s family and I am up waiting not on Santa, but on the SNOW to fall!

I’ve been singing Christmas tunes since before Thanksgiving and I have to say that having a 4.5 month old baby makes the Christmas season a whole lot sweeter. I’ve always enjoyed Christmas, but introducing it to Seamus has been the most fun. He’s been decked in Santa gear, stared for hours on end at the lights, and had “Rudolf” sung to him more times than I’d like to admit.

Last night, we listened to my dad (virtually) read him “‘Twas”, aka “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”. I had gotten one of those Hallmark recordable books and asked my dad to record it for Seamus so he’d have it for his first Christmas. It carried on a long tradition of having my dad read it to me every Christmas eve for the past 35 years. Then, we indulged in the Deel family tradition of eating chili and wings and watching, “A Christmas Story”. Making memories. Oh! And we got to watch a few of their family videos from the days of yore. That’s always fun!

Before bed, Seamus gazed up at the Christmas tree. He’s lounging on Diego’s new dog bed.

Bella has found her nirvana. (Bryan took this photo)

I was surprised to realize how diverse the venues were for 2010! The only place I photographed more than once this year for a wedding was the Wedding Aiken House. I was there three times.

Furthest Wedding:

That would definitely be in Newcastle, Australia! I traveled there in March of 2010 for Katie & Nick Ciaverella’s awesome wedding. Every other wedding I photographed this year took place in and around Charleston, SC!

This would have to be the Y102.5 wedding I shot on The Spirit of Carolina boat!

Katherine & Ryan Get Married! Part Two: The Reception

December 7, 2010

As you recall, yesterday’s post featured Katherine & Ryan Delman’s wonderful wedding ceremony at the William Aiken House. The ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour in the courtyard and then dinner followed upstairs.

I mentioned that they’d chosen a perfect date in November for their wedding. Well who would have known that there was going to be the most amazing tree showing off it’s fall colors that weekend?! I’ve never seen a more perfect tree for the venue!

The party really got started underneath the tent as Liquid Pleasure started rockin’ and rollin’. They kept [people dancing all night!

Here’s the amazing tree that was the perfect shade of yellow! I especially love it against the blue moon sky.

I love this photo as it will be timeless. Even the part when their children 20 years from now will marvel at the Mini and the SUV!

Dinner was served as stations inside the William Aiken House. The catering is by Fish.

These girls know how to have fun.

And don’t you know, their wedding took place under a Blue Moon! From what I read on EarthSky.org,  “A Blue Moon can be the second full moon in a calendar month. Or it can be the third of four full moons in a single season.” Did you know that?

This was one of my favorite parts of the whole night! Ryan owns several Jersey Mikes restaurants, so it was only fitting to serve their famous subs as a late night snack.

At the end of the night, these two ran through a shower of felt balls, which was a really fun way to be sent off!

And they jumped into a pedicab and pedaled off into married life. Congratulations!!!

Katherine & Ryan Get Married! Part One: The Ceremony

December 6, 2010

Oh boy! This was another wedding I’d been looking forward to since I met Katherine & Ryan. They had come in with all sorts of excitement and ideas and they are both extremely personable. Come to find out, I was the first vendor they booked for their wedding and that certainly made me feel good!

The wedding and reception took place at the William Aiken House on a perfect November day. It was a Jewish and Christian ceremony and both a priest and rabbi were there to ordain. They had planned to see each other before the ceremony and so we photographers were stationed out to get shots without impeding on their special moment.

We took advantage of the fact that they were seeing each other before guests arrived and took photos of the wedding party and family before the ceremony. Katherine and Ryan have lots of friends, so it’s no surprise to hear that they had a big wedding party of 9 bridesmaids, 10 groomsmen, 2 flower girls and a ring bearer! This worked out especially well as their ceremony took place as the sun set.

As a gift, friends of theirs had their names put on the marquee next door at the American Theater. I love that!

Gathering Floral + Event Design created the flowers for the wedding. They were perfect for the season without being overdone.

Ahhhh, the ring shot! I love the abstract background in this one.

Finishing touches

Katherine was one stunning bride!!

This was their first glance, played out in the courtyard of the William Aiken House. It was so sweet and Ryan was definitely in awe.

Katherine’s dress had a gorgeous little detail that added lots of pizazz.

The flowers on the gate were exceptional. Here, Mr. & Mrs. Delman can greet their guests!

Jen Bearden of Jennifer Bearden Photography took this amazingly cute shot of the ring bearer and his grand dad (aka the father of the bride!). Jennifer was on hand for a few hours to help Jebb and me capture all the excitement.

My second shooter, Jebb Graff, was stationed on the balcony of the William Aiken House and I love this photo he captured! It’s so iconic.

What can I say? I don’t need anything else for Christmas other than this little guy. And his dad.

4 Months Old

December 2, 2010

This cutie pie was born back in the sultry days of August when her poor mama was at least a week overdue. Needless to say, her parents were happy for her to make her debut!

“Baby H” was coming up on her 4 month birthday when we took these photos and had quite the fashion collection of new Christmas dresses and a “vintage” handmade sweater that her mom use to wear. She has her daddy’s good looks and her mom’s charm and was a smiley model for her photo shoot!

At the end, we brought in my son Seamus so they could have their photo taken together. These two were born a day apart and it looks to me that they make a perfect little couple!
