Smitten Magazine- DIY Bouquet with Charleston Stems

March 29, 2012

If you’ve already been flipping through the pages of the most recent issue of Smitten, then you have seen the Spring DIY bouquet tutorial I photographed at Stems. If not, here’s a little preview for you!

We were lucky to have the glamorous Rebecca Dew hand model for us as Anne Bowen kept us on track as to the proper steps of creating a hand-tied bouquet. See the full article here!

First 52 Weeks Opening on Thursday, 5-8pm!

March 20, 2012

My to-do list is growing shorter and shorter and the day is almost here! I am really excited (and a little bit nervous) for the First 52 Weeks opening at Stems. Stems is right next to my studio, which will also be open for you to peruse.

At the opening, there will be an exhibit of photos from the book and 30 copies of the first edition of the book for sale. Actually, make that 27 as there were a few pre-sales. The books are $35/each. Cash, credit, check, whatever.

Moms and dads- please feel free to bring the kiddos. I know how it is when you want to go to an opening but don’t necessarily want to make a night of it with a babysitter and all. So bring ‘em on! There will be some kid friendly snacks and the most adorable mini red Solo cups. (thanks Target for the impulse buy!)

What else? Oh yes! For the adults, we will have Coast on tap as well as wine and grape Nehi or whatever is available at Harris Teeter.

Really, I just want you to come, have a good time and celebrate with me. Hope to see you there!

Brian & Heather are Engaged!

March 18, 2012

It’s a big deal when you get asked to photograph someone’s proposal. Between my nerves and excitement, I was probably more keyed up than Brian and Heather who were getting engaged! (Well, maybe.)And of course she said, YES!

Heather definitely got herself a good man. Any guy who would arrange to have a photographer present to document this momentous occasion is awesome in my book.

Congratulations you two!!! I hope you had an amazing weekend celebrating your engagement and am I was honored to be there to commemorate it.

John & Pam {The Sanctuary at Kiawah}

March 16, 2012

I love when I get to photograph small and intimate weddings that have a tight group of friends and family wishing the newly married couple well. This one was no exception.

After several days of pouring rain, the sun came out for John and Pam’s day. Their Sunday morning wedding was held at the Sanctuary at Kiawah with brunch at the Jasmine Porch following. Do you know how divine and special a Sunday morning wedding is? Then to be followed by the most lavish, mouth watering brunch? What a treat it was for all their guests.

Everyone was seated at a long family style table and friends toasted Pam and John with mimosas and love. Afterwards, we all went outside on the lawn of the Sanctuary and watched the children jump in the puddles and run as fast as they could across the grass. It was Spring incarnate.

Many well-wishes and love for John & Pam!

Pam carried a white rose bouquet from Tiger Lily

I love this photo of these two!

Another one of my favorites!

Spring colors and a hat! Perfect for their Sunday morning wedding.

Little White Dog

March 15, 2012

I came across this photo of Diego today when I was making room on my computer for all the upcoming weddings I am about to shoot. It’s funny, for a second I wasn’t sure if I’d shot it or not. Then, I realized it was my little chihuahua who had to go live elsewhere after Seamus came along. I miss this little guy sometimes even if it did hurt when he bit me.

Seeing this photo inspired me this afternoon when I was out in the yard with Seamus and my camera. It made me get down on the ground and frame some images with the grass. More of those coming soon!

Bowdre & Rob’s Wedding in Smitten Magazine!

March 12, 2012

I was so excited to see one of the most colorful weddings I photographed last year in the most recent issue of Smitten Magazine! The details and production behind this wedding were phenomenal, which is exactly what you’d expect when working with Calder Clark Designs. The amount of thought, planning and creativity that go into one of her creations is why I absolutely love working with her.

Bowdre is a complete sweetheart and she and Rob were so much fun to get to work with. After the ceremony at the Sanctuary, their guests had the night of a lifetime at their wedding reception at Mingo Point. We all wish we could do it over again!

Thank you to Jennifer Hitchcock who helped me photograph their wedding and Jebb Graff of Graff Creative who manned the photo booth that night. The full list of vendors is at the bottom of the post and be sure to check out the current issue of Smitten Magazine for more colorful goodness and wedding ideas!

Opening for the First 52 Weeks!

March 6, 2012

Hey chickadees. And roosters, or whatever the male version of a chickadee is….

If you haven’t seen my mess of retweets and FB posts, I have a new book project going that I want you to know about. It’s called First 52 Weeks.

I am having an opening to celebrate the debut of the first run of the book and to have a gallery showing of some of the images. To read more about the project and my plans with it, this blog post has everything you need to know.

In the meantime, mark you calendars for March 22, 2012, 5-8pm for the opening at Stems at 208 Coming Street, Charleston, SC
