I sent out my “Photo of the Month” yesterday with a photo form my recent advertising photo shoot with Maine Cottage and thought that I’d follow it up with a blog post. I primarily photograph people, whether it’s of weddings, kids or events. But I must admit that I LOVED working with a stylist and gorgeous furniture and products. I’d love more projects like this. Anyone need their interiors photographed?
Here’s a bit of what I said in the email about the shoot…
“I’m always amazed at how one thing leads to another. The chain of events that make up our lives and connect us to all of our friends sometimes seems nebulous, but there’s nothing better than it coming full circle and getting to work with clients who have become friends!
My photographing for Maine Cottage was born out of photographing products for Skirt! Magazine for several years. I was thrilled to be asked to photograph the entire Charleston Symphony Orchestra Designer Showhouse that Maine Cottage designed for this year’s event. If you aren’t familiar with their furniture and style, check out their website. I’d love them to design my entire house, it just makes you happy to be around all of these bright and bold colors.
I enlisted the help of expert stylist, photo editor and all around prop extraordinaire, Maggie Kennedy, to help me with the job. We met on a photo shoot years ago and have been friends ever since. She is incredibly talented and you might know her as the photography editor for Garden & Gun Magazine.
I think we all had a blast working on this job not only because the house was gorgeous, but because it’s always fun to work with friends! You will see the photo below (and more!) in upcoming ads and catalogs for Maine Cottage.”
And a few of my favorite photos form the shoot are below.
