My apologies for the fact that this blog has been down for several weeks. You might have noticed that I got a snazzy new website though! What do you think? I love it… the photos are huge and it’s easy for me to update.

On the downside however, liveBooks, the company that builds and hosts these types of sites, does not host blogs. And they failed to mention that to me at any point. So suddenly, when my new website launched, my blog went down and it’s been a complicated mess trying to get it back up.

But finally, it is

I got an advance copy of The Knot Best of Wedding 2008 as I have a photo in there! It’s that’s delicious looking cake over there on the right side with the cool turqouise coral design. It was made by Jim Smeal, a fabulous cake designer here in Charleston, for Adrienne and Philip’s wedding.

I’ve become a bit of a cake connoisseur, having been to so many weddings. And I find that it’s hard to make a cake taste as good as it looks. It all comes down to the frosting or fondant that you use. And in my opinion, Jim Smeal’s cakes are not only works of art, but they’re mighty tasty as well!

Jennifer & Matt

April 1, 2008

One of my favorite places to photograph a wedding is on Daufuskie Island. It’s not an easy place to get to, you have to take a ferry there from either Hilton Head or Savannah. But once you arrive, the real world is a million miles away. And if you’re smart, you’ll stay there an extra day or two and rent a golf cart, as no cars are allowed on the island, and putt around the old dirt roads. There’s a really nice spa there too!

Jennifer & Matt live close to Savannah, so this was the perfect little escape for their wedding on March 8, 2008. Here’s Jennifer moments before the ceremony.

Amy Martin helped me photograph their wedding. Here’s one of her great shots of the ring exchange.

The sunset after the ceremony was so soft and beautiful. We had a great time getting tons of shots of the newly married couple!

On instinct, Jennifer threw her arm into the air and I just loved it!

I love shots of grandparents. This is Jennifer’s dad dancing with his mom.

I liked how they had personalized cards out where guests could write their wished for the two of them.
