Time Lapse for Duvall

October 30, 2008

A few weeks ago, we photographed the rehearsal dinner for Mollie Lynch & Whitten Meares at the Aquarium. It was a seated dinner for over 200 people and Duvall Catering & Event Design did the design and catering for the event. Duvall asked us if we could come early and get some shots of the Aquarium being transformed into an underwater venue.

Below is the time lapse movie Jebb and I set-up to capture the evening. What do you think?

Last Friday’s gully washer set records for being the rainiest day in eons. With over 6.5 inches of rain falling that day, every outdoor wedding in Charleston had to be moved inside. But it didn’t break the spirit for Tracy and Nick, who came to Daniel Island from East Hampton, NY, to get married in front of their closest family and friends.

The ceremony was suppose to have taken place outside on the lawn, but of course was moved inside the club. As guests arrived, they were treated with glasses of champagne and mojitos and there was a bit of a cocktail hour before the nuptials began. That’s always fun as the guests get to mingle and relax before the ceremony.

Tracy’s bouquet was very artistic. I really loved it.

Tracy arrived fashionably late for her own wedding. But she sure looked stunning!

In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, they had a giant tier of many different  flavors of cupcakes. They smelled divine!

Michael & Melissa

October 22, 2008

This was a wedding that I had been anticipating for a long time! Michael and Melissa booked me to shoot their wedding eons ago… as they were engaged for 14 months! But it was well worth the wait. On October 18, 2008, they were married at Patriot’s Point in Mt. Pleasant, over looking the Charleston harbor.

Michael and Melissa and their guests stayed at the Belvidere Cottages for the wedding weekend. This was the girls’ cottage with Melissa’s wedding dress hanging out front.

Talk about some cute and fun flower girls! There were three of them, but here’s one of them warming up with a few pirouettes.

The flowers were done by Tiger Lily. I love the mix of traditional and exotic flowers in the bouquets.

Melissa was one of the most smiling and animated bride I think I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. She was beaming the entire day!

I like this photo of all the bridesmaids huddled together with Melissa. It was a little chillier out than they’d planned it to be, but at least it had stopped raining!

Mike comes from a family of 4 boys and all his brothers were groomsmen, along with two good friends.

(The brothers are all in the middle and his two friends are on either end.)

Here’s Melissa striking a pose here with her colorful bouquet.

I loved how a huge container ship passed by as they exchanged rings!

While we waited for a round of golfers to finish up their putting, I took a few shots of these two next to the ceremony site.

The tent at Patriot’s Point lit up at night. There was a nice and toasty fire pit that you could huddle next to and enjoy the view.

Michael & Melissa left under a stream of sparklers and took off in a golf cart at the end of the night. Congratulations!

Patti & Scott

October 22, 2008

Patti & Scott were married at the Wickliffe House on October 17, 2008. It was the perfect late afternoon ceremony outside on the lawn next to the historic Greek revival mansion in downtown Charleston. Patti and Scott live in Charlotte, but got to enjoy several trips down to Charleston to plan their destination wedding.

A New Leaf Studio did the flowers for Patti and Scott and they did a truly amazing job! Patti had shown Annie a photo from a magazine of a bouquet that looked like a rose opening up endlessly and Annie was able to re-create that for her.

I love the fall colors of these hydrangeas mixed with orchids and lilies.

Scott, the groom, smiled the entire day!

The reception was held on both floors of the Wickliffe House. This is the upstairs room where their guests dined.

Chocolate and vanilla wedding cupcakes were a very enticing treat for the guests.

Red, orange and yellow orchids gave the perfect fall look.

I love this intimate shot of the two of them during their first dance.

Rob Duren, the DJ, kept the party going all night! I caught this fisheye shot through the window.

Gil Shuler Graphic Design

October 16, 2008

I really should have posted info about my new logo and website design months ago, but it’s been so busy around here that I forgot to do it until now! It was designed by the award winning, 100% down to earth, highly creative studio of Gil Shuler Graphic Design.

You might have noticed the new red and blue logo  with the interlocking “L” and “W” for Leigh Webber Photography, which I absolutely love. I went to Gil Shuler asking for a “mark”. I wanted something fresh, modern and clean looking. They came up with lots of great options for me, but this one in particular really caught my eye and I was sold.

Since then, I’ve had new business cards, letterhead, notecards and stickers printed up with the logo as well as incorporating it into a new website, which is powered by LiveBooks.

ltwebbercom.jpg

In exchange for all their hard design work, I photographed all of GSGD’s printed collateral (letterheads, books, t-shirts, etc.) for their new website. You definitely need to check out Gil Shuler Graphic Design. They guys at Blue Ion designed it for them and the way the images load and float is super cool. And if you’re in need of a new look for your business and a totally unique logo, call Gil. Here are a few shots from their new website.

Sally & Jamey

October 14, 2008

Sally & Jamey were married at Alhambra Hall on September 28, 2008. It was a really nice Sunday afternoon affair under the big oak tree, overlooking the Charleston harbor. It was one of those perfect early fall days with a nice breeze and no humidity. Jebb, my ever trusty second shooter, helped me shoot this wedding.

Sally was a beautiful bride, especially with her veil blowing in the breeze.

Out of Hand did the flowers and decor for the wedding.

I love that Jamey & the groomsmen wore ties with crabs on them!

The guys were classically preppy in their khaki pants, blazers and boat shoes.

The ring bearer, Sally’s nephew (here with his mom, Sally’s sister), did an excellent job of getting the rings down the aisle with a smile.

I love this big old oak tree as the background for the ceremony. Sally’s brother-in-law officiated the ceremony. And Out of Hand hung the mason jars of flowers along the aisle.

Mollie & Whitten

October 12, 2008

Mollie and Whitten were married at the William Aiken House on September 26, 2008. Stacey Fraunfelter of Red Letter Events did an amazing job of coordinating this wedding with over 300 guests and a bridal party of 22 people. The William Aiken House was stunning, there were candles hung in the trees and a custom monogram designed and used through out the wedding.

Mollie found her dress at Maddison Row. This is a shot of the back of the dress and I love this big flower that sat right at her hip.

01dress.jpg
The girls are all oohing and ahhing over Mollie’s wedding ring. It’s a family heirloom, originally belonged to Whitten’s grandmother.

I love a guy in a bow tie.

03bowtie.jpg

Mollie & Whitten had a special monogram logo designed using the letters of each of their first names, which showed up on everything from the flowers on the gate to the candles on the table and even on the cupcakes. It was a very well-designed wedding!

It’s a little tricky getting 14 guys into one shot. They definitely had a sense of humor!

This is one of the bridesmaids bouquets. I love the cerulean blue on the wrap and the blue hydrangeas. It went really well against the yellow if the William Aiken House.

In addition to a tier of wedding cupcakes, there was also a dessert table with cakes and cookies and delicious treats!

Mollie and her mom really have a great relationship and you could just tell that they had a great time putting this beautiful and dynamic wedding together with Stacey Fraunfelter of Red Letter Events!

Jebb was up on the balcony getting shots from above. I really like how you can see everyone in this shot.

Hands down, this was one of the most fun (and crazy!) receptions I have ever been to! The band, Right On, was amazing. They provided the beats and Mollie and Whitten provided the props and it turned into a very, very fun party.

After being showered with daisy petals, Mollie & Whitten took off in a rickshaw.

The Way I See It #141

(as seen on the back of my morning Starbuck’s cup and made me smile)

I used to feel so alone in the city. All those gazillions of people and then me, on the outside. Because how do you meet a new person? I was very stumped by this for many years. And then I realized, you just say, “Hi.” They may ignore you. Or you may marry them. And that possibility is worth that one word.

Mollie’s Bridal Portrait

October 10, 2008

I have almost finished editing the photos from Mollie & Whitten’s wedding weekend, from September 26-27. But just to tide you over and get some shots of the gorgeous Mollie up on the blog, I thought I’d post a few from her bridal portrait!

This first one if my favorites. I love the back lighting and late afternoon light.

mollie1.jpg

We did a whole series of portraits inside the William Aiken House. this is the parlor where the girls got ready on the wedding day.

mollie2.jpg

This is the shot Mollie and her mom chose as the official bridal portrait. It’s a classic shot, perfect for the antique frame they used to frame it.
