Abstract Dogs

March 31, 2009

In my downtime, I’ve been trying to get some creative shots of my dogs and friends’ dogs hanging out in the backyard or at the park. I’ve got a thing for dogs, if you can’t tell. Here are a few recent, slightly less conventional shots…

I love this photo of Rover. Perhaps you have to know him in order to appreciate it. He’s a handicapped dog who is happiest when in his owner’s truck. Here he is sleeping, waiting for him to come back.

These Spring photos were inspired by a line from one of my favorite poems, “Nothing Gold Can Stay”, by Robert Frost. Actually, why don’t I just post the poem for you here, so you can enjoy it too!

Nothing Gold Can Stay
Robert Frost

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.

Liz and Bladen came to Charleston a couple of weeks ago for their engagement session and to finalize some details for their upcoming wedding at Boone Hall. It was a brisk afternoon for photos, but they braved the cold and we got some cute shots for them to be able to use for their engagement announcement in the paper.

You might recognize these two from Hannah and Jason’s wedding, which we shot back in October. Bladen is Hannah’s brother and was a groomsman and Liz was a bridesmaid in Hannah and Jason’s wedding. It’s fun to get to work with the same family for two weddings, especially when they are so great to work with!

We’re looking forward to your wedding in May, Liz & Bladen!

Big news over here at Leigh Webber Photography. We have finally moved into our new studio space over at 10 Storehouse Row, at The Navy Yard at Noisette. I’ve been looking for the right sort of space for a long time, one with plenty of daylight and lots of space to stretch out in.

The building is part of the former naval base and was built in 1939 as part of FDR’s public works program as a distribution center. The Noisette company has recently renovated 10 Storehouse Row, keeping it true to its character and making it eco-friendly. It’s a huge, super cool, semi-industrial space with lots of light and it is full of artist studios and houses part of The American College of the Building Arts.

I share the space with Jebb Graff, who is a commercial photographer and is my associate wedding photographer. We both have our businesses here and between the two of us, we can photograph anything you need!

We’re looking forward to meeting with clients here and having a shooting space where we can be extra creative. We’d love to have you over to come check it out. Feel free to give us a call at (843) 697-0376 or send an email to Leigh@LeighWebber.com to set up an appointment! And here are the directions to get here.

This is from the day we signed the lease, before we moved in. Look at that ceiling height!

I brought Bella to work with me today to my new studio at 10 Storehouse Row. (Blog post on the new studio space coming very soon!)

Knowing that she likes to watch the comings and goings of my neighbors at home, I put her dog bed by the window at the studio. Let’s just say she has been endlessly fascinated by every single person but has only barked at one of them. It seems equivalent to plopping a kid in front of a TV in terms of keeping her occupied. I love it.
