Caroline Goodman and Kyle McKinney’s Charleston wedding was a true Southern affair. What makes it Southern, you ask? First of all, there was an extra large wedding party, 29 including Kyle and Caroline! And I have to say that they were a wonderful bunch and great to photograph. Another quintessential Southern touch was the a capella gospel choir, Voices of Deliverance, that came in at the end of the ceremony singing “Oh, Happy Day!”. If that doesn’t make your eyes well up, I don’t know what will. They are amazing.
The entire wedding day flowed perfectly. Hannah Alexander of WED was the coordinator and their crew pulled this wedding off with out a hitch, as always. After the ceremony at the Trinity Methodist Church, guests were transported on the classic Charleston white trolleys to the Daniel Island Club for the reception.
Kyle and Caroline had a special first dance prepared, and let me tell you, they were amazing! There were several dips and totally coordinated moves. I think we will see them next on “Dancing with the Stars”. After the first dance, guests were seated for the four-course meal, which also included the toasts and cutting of the cake.
The band, The Maxx, played an awesome rendition of a Michael Jackson song, which I do not remember the name of. But it was so fun to see everyone, young and old, out on the dance floor singing along! It was a reminder as to how timeless his music is. I enjoyed working with Alan Daly of Crown Alley Films, based out of Charlotte. He does contemporary style wedding “movies”. He totally made me laugh with his Irish accent and calling the guys “lads”.
At the end of the night, Caroline and Kyle left under a canopy of blown bubbles and sped off on their new path together in a sweet Rolls-Royce. Congrats Mr. & Mrs. McKinney!

A little lip gloss for the junior bridesmaids.

Caroline’s bouquet was wrapped with a handkerchief, bearing her new name, “Mrs. Kyle McKinney”. Attached was a special bumblebee brooch that belonged to her sister.

Champagne toasts for the girls.

Caroline and her 10 bridesmaids, 4 junior bridesmaids and 1 flower girl.

The ring bearer looking very GQ. I hope they show these photos of him at his own wedding one day!
Kyle, his dad and best man, and the groomsmen on Meeting Street.

Caroline & Kyle never saw each other before the wedding, but wanted a moment to hold each others’ hand before the ceremony began.

The ceremony took place at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Meeting Street. I’m loving the fish eye view so you can see the ornate decor on the ceiling.

Every time I hear the Voices of Deliverance, my eyes well up! They came into the church and up the aisle at the end of the ceremony singing, “Oh, Happy Day!”

The signing of the marriage certificate.

Woo hoo! Mr. & Mrs. Kyle McKinney and the wedding party!
The photos of the bride and groom after the ceremony are my favorite part of the wedding day. There’s such a special energy between them then and it’s the first time they have a moment to themselves after the ceremony. I get to be witness to that moment.

It’s a gorgeous church too!

Caroline & Kyle had some serious dance moves! They tore up the dance floor at the Daniel Island Club.

The band was pretty awesome too. They’re called “The Maxx” and they are out of Atlanta.

Leaving under bubbles!
