My apologies for the lack of blog posts lately. It’s not for lack of material, it’s for lack of time! This has been the busiest Spring ever- both personally and professionally. But I can see my calendar thinning out a bit and I am welcoming the break and an opportunity to put up some more photos on this blog!
Recently, I was asked to photograph a 50th Wedding Anniversary 5-day long extravaganza for a VIP, who shall remain nameless for privacy reasons. This VIP flew in 55 guests on his personal jet and they are spending the week at the Sanctuary on Kiawah, soaking up the Lowcountry and all it has to offer, with nightly parties and dinners to celebrate.
The festivities began Wednesday night, once the guests had arrived, with a BBQ at Kiawah’s Mingo Point. All I can say is, “Wow!”. It’s a nature center and preserve by day and an amazing spot at night for an outdoor bbq with views over the river. Jim Simpson, of Adventures in Charleston, helped coordinate this party. There was a bluegrass band setting the vibe and oysters steaming on the side. A whole roasted pig was the talk of the group as these Northerners had never seen one before. The fixin’s were fresh and local with John’s Island tomatoes, fresh cucumbers, potato salad and collard greens!

I love the dreamlike quality of these! You can feel the sun and the lazy haze of heat in them. Makes you want to kick back with a cold glass of sweet tea on the porch.
