I’ve had a lot of dog related things going on recently, including an upcoming job to photograph for Lowcountry Dog. I’m really excited about this as I’ve always had in the back of my mind to do a collection of photos of Charleston dogs. This article is about people and their dogs, so I am doing shots of them together… including some of Mayor Summey and his little pack of dogs.
…which incidentally reminds me of a shoot I did a couple years ago for Charleston Loves Pets (a supplement to Charleston Magazine), where my job was to get a shot of the shop cat at Boomer’s Books, which is now Blue Bicycle Books. (It’s a great used book store by the way, I highly recommend it!) And when Jonathan Sanchez bought it, the cat came WITH the store! Anyway, every time I’d get within a block of that store, Purdy, I believe his name is, knew and would go hide in the block-long store. It became a running joke between me and the owners about this cat, and I never did get a shot of it.
Anyway, here’s a new favorite shot of my extremely affectionate Vizsla, Bella. When she’s not tearing through the yard, she can be found stretched out across the floor or jumping into your lap.
