Anne Marie & Edward {Bethel United Methodist & Hibernian Hall}

September 20, 2011

“Go away, Irene!”… I’m sure that was the song going through Anne Marie and Edward’s heads in the week leading up to their wedding. Hurricane Irene had her eye set on Charleston at one point and there’s not much worse than not knowing whether or not she was going to hit Charleston on their wedding day. I got a call on Monday of that week from Kristin Newman Designs inquiring about my hurricane policy. My feeling was, if Anne Marie and Edward were going to be here come Irene or high water, I would be too. And in worse case scenario, I’d be happy to reschedule for a better day.

Luckily for us, Irene took a turn and we ended up with pleasant weather all things considered. Kristin Newman Designs put together a stellar day for Anne Marie and Edward and their guests. After their ceremony at Bethel United Methodist, children bearing pendants lead they way as they exited the church doors and were showered with rose petals. It was quite a moment.

Guests were received at Hibernian Hall and enjoyed a cocktail hour with an amazing selection of cheese and charcuterie. (originally, the cocktail hour was to have take place at the Confederate Home. Unfortunately, plans had to change due to the potential of hurricane Irene). A seated dinner followed upstairs in Hibernian Hall and long tables filled the room with the tink’ling of glasses, warm candlelight and flower designs by Gathering were everywhere. Cru Catering served a four course meal followed by the cutting of the incredible and stunning rosette wedding cakes by Jim Smeal.

The party continued downstairs to the ever popular and hugely talented, Quiana Parler! I am always thrilled when I see Quiana Parler and her band taking the stage, she’s a class act. Towards the end of the night, a conga line formed and lead guests outside to wish Anne Marie and Edward off into their new life. As a surprise to her dad, Anne Marie decided to use his El Camino as the “get away” car. He had been suggesting it all along, though he never thought she’d actually use it. Also there for the grand exit were their two dogs! It was quite an exciting moment.

Congratulations Anne Marie & Edward!!!
