Smitten : The 1 Year Anniversary Cover!

August 2, 2012

It’s here! The 1 year anniversary issue of Smitten has debuted.

I was thrilled to be asked to take the cover image for this issue. Ombre has been hot hot hot this year and our savvy creative director Becky Hoppmann wanted to honor that for the magazine’s one-year anniversary issue. Anne Bowen of Stems honed the palette and worked her sculptural skills to create this blanket of flowers on which to rest this plate form BHLDN and a tasty little number “1″, made by Ashley Bakery.

What do you think?!

The Local Palate Magazine: An Independent Feast

July 12, 2012

I was beyond excited when Jennifer Hitchcock at The Local Palate contacted me about photographing their entertaining feature for the July/August issue of this gorgeous food magazine. They are based out of Charleston, but focus on the “food culture of the south”, which is brimming with energy.

The entertaining feature, “An Independent Feast” was styled by Magda Pelzer of Vieuxtemps and the menu was created by John Zucker of Cru Cafe and Cru Catering, whom I get to enjoy at many of the weddings I shoot.

There were some extra delicious Firefly sweet tea vodka cocktails on hand, but sadly I missed taste testing those that day. We shot at a stunning property on James Island and I was ready to move onto their boat after the shoot it was so scenic.

Enjoy the photos and go grab a mag!

Smitten Magazine: Fab Finds Under $50

February 24, 2012

Y’all. Issue 6 of Smitten Magazine is about to debut and I can’t wait. I have a little inside scoop on what’s going to be in there and it’s pretty much 1000% awesome.

So before issue 6 hits the digital shelf, I wanted to show you one more article from this current issue that I photographed. We have all been in the pickle of “what do I buy” for the bridesmaids, mothers and friends in our lives. Well, the fabulous ladies of Elizabeth Stuart Designs offered up their expert advice on a few fab finds under fifty dollars. See more here!

Anderson Interiors {Architecture & Interior Photography}

April 22, 2011

I love photographing people and capturing those split-second moments that define the core of someone’s personality. But like any good story teller, it’s important to also be able to capture a composed image that has been well thought out and executed.

Then there’s the fact that the older I grow, the more of a neatnik and perfectionist I become. I find that architecture and interior design photogrpahy appeals to me a lot as I have more patience to be concerned with the details.

Here are a few recent shots I took for Lisa Long Anderson, of Anderson Interiors, Inc. She designed the bedroom  for the 2011 Charleston Designer Show House.

Featured in Lowcountry Dog!

February 23, 2011

I am a huge dog lover and have had dogs my entire life. So of course I am always picking up the latest issue of Lowcountry Dog magazine. Well it was sure my lucky day when the editor, Leah England, wrote me to see if I’d be interested in being featured in “Fido’s Friends”. YES!

In addition to answering some fun questions, she asked for a few photos of me and my dogs. I took this challenge to heart and decided to do a whole family photo with the three dogs and our new baby. We set up the tripod and self timer and shot away.A gajillion shots later, we got this one!

You can read the article and see the entire magazine here. If you’d like a free copy of Lowcountry Dog, they can be found at Harris Teeter and all the dog stores (among other places) in Charleston, SC.

Garden & Gun Celebrates 4 Years!

November 12, 2010

Last night I photographed Garden & Gun magazine’s party celebrating four years in business. It was hosted by Andy & Anke Berlin in their stunning home downtown. The house, which has recently been renovated, reminded me of one of William Means clever tag lines on their for sale signs, “The Most Valuable Antique You’ll Ever Own”.

In true Garden & Gun style, the drink du jour was a Blenheim and bourbon mint julep. For those of you who don’t know about Blenheim’s ginger ale, you must try it. Made in Hamer, SC, it is the spiciest and most tasty ginger ale out there. Catering was by the Glass Onion, so of course there were pimento cheese finger sandwiches and homemade pickles being served. Yum!

Mayor Riley came to help celebrate Garden & Gun’s four years in business. He spoke of how appreciative we Charlestonians are of the culture, creativity and high level of writing and design this award winning magazine has on our city.

Congratulations on your first four years and here’s to many more!!!
