Church of the Nativity & Wild Dunes: Heather & Brian
I first met Heather and Brian shortly after they became engaged. You see, Brian, being a very smart man, had arranged for me to photograph his proposal to Heather on the pier at Waterfront Park. Fast forward a couple of months and Heather emailed me to say she loved the proposal photos and was I available to photograph the wedding?!
I always love photographing weddings around the holidays as there’s an extra dose of merriment added into the mix. The day began with the girls getting ready at Wild Dunes and the boys at the Old South Barber Spa. One of my strongest memories of their day is my trolley ride with the girls from Wild Dunes to the Church of the Nativity on James Island. The nerves and excitement were palpable in the best sort of way.
They were married in a Catholic ceremony, which was followed by a traditional greeting line and a saber arch, one of my favorite military wedding traditions. After photos at Wild Dunes, Heather and Brian joined their guests for dinner and dancing at the Sweetgrass Pavilion.
Heather’s sister was her maid of honor and worked her magic getting the dress buttoned.
Brian’s gift to Heather was this incredible necklace created with a family heirloom diamond.
The girls were stunning in these dresses!
Sally captured Brian and the guys getting ready at Old South Barber Spa. What an awesome spot for the men to use to get ready. Shave and a bourbon anyone?
Heather’s gift to Brian was a collection of photos form a surprise pin-up style shoot we did on the USS Yorktown a few months ago!
The trolley ride across the rivers and waterways was quintessentially Charleston
A gorgeous candid moment captured by Sally Watts.
The Catholic ceremony was held at the Church of the Nativity on James Island.
Did I mention this was a military wedding? Look at these incredibly handsome groomsmen living up for the saber arch!
Could there be a cuter junior bridesmaid? I think not!
We loved riding in the trolley with the wedding party headed to the reception!
These’s nothing finer than a well dressed man.
We took many of the wedding party photos at Wild Dunes. They have some incredible backdrops.
I love the light in this one.
That’s one lucky best man!
More fun candids on the boardwalk enroute to the reception.
I had no idea they were going to cut the wedding cake with the saber! I just thought it was there for looks.
Shout! gets everyone on the dance floor.
I’ll bet you know what song they’re dancing to here!
An impromptu chair dance?
