Lisa & Nick {Wild Dunes Wedding}

June 6, 2011

Lisa and Nick picked a perfect weekend to get married at Wild Dunes. Most of their guests were from out of town and they got to enjoy a little vacation while they were here, with perfect weather and the ocean temps perfect for swimming.

The ceremony was held on the Grand Lawn and there was a moving moment when Lisa’s brother had to choke back the tears as he did a reading during the ceremony. I think lots of people were wiping away the tears after that. A wonderful thing about weddings at Wild Dunes is that the beach is right there and is a perfect spot for photos after the ceremony.

We had a nice bit of time for photos, so the whole wedding party came out and we did a variety of photos of them along with some special ones of just Lisa and Nick. It kind of felt as if we were on a photo safari as several of the guests had 70-200mm lenses and tagged along.

Lisa and Nick had a few surprises up their sleeves, such as an expertly choreographed first dance number that combined a little bit of hip hop with some classic first dance numbers. Guests lined the dance floor with their cameras and I’m sure not a moment of it was missed.

Distinctive Events provided the decor and a color palette of red and blue carried through out the wedding from the red bridesmaids dresses to the blue tent liner. Rob Duren DJ’ed and kept the tunes flowing. I highly recommend him if you ever need a DJ. Both Lisa and Nick have recently graduated from med school and there was definitely an added level of excitement in the air with guests helping to celebrate their graduation and their union. That is to say, the dance floor was wild and everyone was “Doing the Dougie”.

Thanks to Jennifer Hitchcock who helped me photograph Nick and Lisa’s wedding!

Nick’s boutonniere was a work of art.

I like how Nick’s ring is engraved with their wedding date.

The groomsmen moments before the ceremony starts.

The bridesmaids all wore necklaces that Lisa had given them and the men each wore a special set of cuff links.

The color palette was red and blue and Distinctive Events did the decor.

I love this moment in the ceremony when the pelicans fly over.

Headed to the beach for wedding party photos! I live for candid moments like this, as you could never plan this out.

Sharing a little moment on the beach

This is another one of my faves of just the two of them.

Sweet wedding favors

I always look forward to taking ambient shots at dusk. Love those palms!

Love the laugh!
