Old St. Andrews Parish Wedding: Allison & Michael

June 13, 2012

Michael & Allison’s wedding was one I’d really been looking forward to. I think the excitement started when I did their engagement session earlier this year and really got a little insight into their personalities and decided that I like them, a lot! For starters, they are two of the nicest and genuine people I know. And in addition to being whip smart, they are laid back, funny and don’t take themselves too seriously. To totally top it off, they are big time dog lovers, need I say more?

The enlisted a good friend of theirs, Kelley Cannon of Kelley Cannon Events out of the DC area, to be their wedding planner. She was excellent. I had such a fun time working with her as she helped Michael and Allison with a million little touches that really personalized their wedding.

It was Memorial Day weekend, so as you may image, Charleston was hoppin! The wedding party got ready at the Francis Marion Hotel, where Michael and Allison decided to do a “first look”. It’s an incredibly sweet moment to witness. The wedding party then boarded  the trolly and we headed to Cannon Park for photos. It was the perfect spot that was totally Charleston, but without all the crowds.

Then, it was off to Old St. Andrews Parish for the ceremony, which is one of my favorite churches in all of Charleston. It has a long history, dating back to 1706 and is the oldest church in South Carolina.

Their guests were treated to a incredible reception at Magnolia Plantation along the Ashley River, photos form which you’ll get to see in tomorrow’s blog post! Until then, enjoy these highlights through their wedding ceremony.

One of the flower girls isn’t so sure about living in the lap of luxury as she has her nails and hair done simultaneously.

Our 21st century bride!

I love this photo that my second photographer Sally Watts captured of Allison and Michael’s first look.

Allison carried a bouquet of pink peonies and they were the perfect compliment to her dress.

We took photos of the wedding party in Cannon Park. These columns are left over from a former city museum.

Sally Watts took this photo of the girls helping Allison with the veil, gorgeous!

I love moments like these. Allison and Michael hug Michael’s mom as the flower girls look on.

This is another special photo, there is a lot of love in those smiles.

Off to the reception! Check in tomorrow for photos from dinner and dancing at Magnolia Plantation.
