St. John’s Parish & The Sandcastle: Meredith & Justin

November 14, 2012

Meredith and Justin’s wedding weekend happened to coincide with hurricane Sandy, but luckily, she was mostly bark and no bite for us here in the lowcountry. The weather did however prevent us from doing some beach portraits with Meredith & Justin and their chihuahua Lucy, and I was sad not to get to meet their little dog. I’m thinking we’ll have to do an “after wedding” session with them to make up for that!

Meredith and Justin did a “first look” at the Sandcastle on Kiawah before boarding the cute green trolley to head over to the church, St. John’s Parish. As we drove down Bohicket Road form Kiawah to the church, all I could think about is how amazed their guests must be to drive down a road lined in huge old oaks dripping with spanish moss. It’s one of the most scenic drives we have around Charleston.

They were married in an historic church that has been around since the civil war. By the time they were pronounced husband and wife, the rain had subsided! Guests returned to the Sandcastle at Kiawah for the reception and were greeted with the most incredible sunset I’ve ever seen.

One of my favorite parts of their wedding was when their band Soul Fish sang “Yellow” by Coldplay for their first dance. You don’t often get to hear that and it sounded awesome!

Congratulations Meredith & Justin! We loved beige there to capture it all for you!
