Toddler365: Day 68

It was a scary morning for the little Seamus. Or rather, it was a scary morning for Seamus’ parents. You had your first trip to the ER.

After rolling out of the bed around 4am, we heard a loud “thud” and even louder screams. By 6am, you were absolutely miserable, white as a ghost and throwing up. Help!

We were going to take you to Nason Medical Center because we felt like it would be less scary, cheaper and a lower risk of the superbug we keep hearing about on the news. But after I put out an early morning call to Facebook, the overwhelming response was to take you to MUSC Children’s Hospital. (Thank you friends for your quick and thoughtful replies!) Off we went.

Also, I liked the idea that the Children’s Hospital only handles kids. Everything was miniaturized, even the bed. We were the only patient there, so it was an easy process. Two thumbs up, MUSC.

It’s a very leveling experience taking your child to the hospital. I’m not sure how much I can talk about it without bursting into tears, but let’s just say that it had me rethinking a few things about life and how we live it.

Diagnosis: Mild Concussion. He’s going to be ok!

By the time we left, you were feeling much better.

(You didn’t think I was going to the ER without a camera, did you?)
